Emotions Cause Emotional Eating?

Noticed a blog that starts off by saying,

"Emotional eating is caused by stress, loneliness, frustration at home, work and society, boredom and being upset, divorce, job loss, bereavement as well as abuse during childhood, and as an adult."

Now does that make sense to you? If this is the first of my blogs that you've read, it probably makes sense, but if you've been following my blogs, you'll see the absurdity.

I mean, do these emotions cause emotional eating? Sure you may be feeling these emotions while you are emtionally eating, but do the emotions cause the eating or does our inability to deal effectively with the emotions result in over eating?

It may seem like a small difference, but in reality it's a huge difference. It's like saying that sun burns are bad for you and rather than using protective sun tan lotion or limiting exposure to the sun to avoid sun burns, you try to get rid of the sun.
