Amazon Book Release

The Scale Conspiracy has evolved to How to Stop, End, and Cure Compulsive, Emotional and Binge Eating. We did a free download on Amazon about ten days ago and 450 people picked up their free copy of the book. Our minimum goal was to give away 2000 downloads and we fell way short.
They tell us it's back to the drawing board for the title and the cover which is being redesigned. The new title is dramatically shortened and to the point: "How to Beat the Binge." The sub title tells the prospective reader how it's going to be done and that is: "Understanding Why You Eat What You Eat.
We've looked at rough drafts of the cover design and have chosen to blend two of them together for what we feel will be a very appealing cover design.
Stay tuned for the next blog and a chance to download the book for free and the new title and cover.

Emotional Eatng--the Secret to Dealing With the Sugar Addiction

If you've been following my posts, the emotional eating expert (that's me), had been emotional eating himself twenty five pounds of excess weight. I was eating my failing manufacturing business and physical pains. The strange thing is that my less than perfect eating habits I had fallen into aggravated my physical pains. It was a catch 22 thing.

I was a perfect candidate for reading my book and I did several times as I edited the book for publication in soft cover form. I was eating my frustration and depression. There just didn't seem much to live for as I had lost interest in just about every thing.

Fortunately I woke up and "smelled the coffee." My 25 pounds were not of any value and only complicated my depressed life so over the course of 2 years I began dealing with my emotions and chose to take many of them straight and got rid of 21 of those 25 pounds.

I fired the fellow who was running my manufacturing business and took it over just as the stock market collapsed and the recession started. That just helped make it even more of a challenge to take the emotions straight by adding the emotion of confusion--confusion as whether to sell my company for a mere pittance or put it back together again.

I had five pounds to my goal weight and was finding it an issue. I ate a little desert every night and had difficulty taking the emotions straight. I finally "got fed up" (a pun in my book) and simply stopped deserts, period. For the first three or four days I had an empty feeling as is explained in Chapter III of the book.

Within four days my liver got the message (as explained in the book) and the hungry feeling disappeared and so did four pounds.

The secret is to deal with the addiction to carbs and deserts and it becomes easier and easier to simply forget about food. And obviously it's easier and easier to take emotions straight and leave food out of the situations in the past that were a challenge.

By getting my diet in order and adding a glutathione accelerator, my physical pains have greatly diminished by 98 to 99 percent. While business is still a challenge, we've hired new people and are looking at expanding into a new facility.

I've also become more interested in my hobby of writing and have been publishing several books on kindle and Nook. Go to either kindle or nook and search for my name, Richard Kuhns, to get a list of them. Buy any one (only $2.99), write a review of a couple paragraphs, and I'll refund your $2.99. You'll love them if you love to read self help books.

So in many cases, the emotions of frustration and depression have been replaced with the emotions of contentment and happiness which can be equally a challenge to take straight and leave food out of the experience.

This week we're taking a week to go to Costa Rica and scout it for a winter vacation home. In the meantime I've attached a clip of the north west mountains of Maui at the end of this post.

Book Review of The Scale Conspiracy

What does a life-time binger think of the Scale Conspiracy? Here is what one lady wrote on Amazon about the Scale Conspiracy.

"I have been a binge eater for about 15 years now. I binged everyday after work. I headed straight to the store and bought 20 or 30 dollars worth of food and always ate a huge bag of Cheetos on the drive home. Can you relate to the orange fingertips and steering wheel? I wondered if I could get a car with an orange interior. I am 58 years old now. I started off at a high weight of 271 lbs. I realized that it was not about the food some 5 or 6 years into the disorder as I could not even begin a diet.

It took me five years and probably 200 self help books to finally overcome my problem. Many of the books I just threw against the wall in disgust and headed for a binge. I tried hypnosis to the tune of 2500 dollars. I ate my way through that. I went to therapists, dietitians, nutritionist, and psychiatrists. I refused to cave in and do a lot of the crazy things some of the books I read were advocating. None of the precious time that I have left in my life will be used counting points, calories, fat grams or carbs. This is not living. I had in my head the kind of life I wanted to live and it did not include restriction, no fat or low fat in any form or fashion. I just knew the way I was eating was not right. I was determined and would not give up. I finally decided to go it on my own and incorporated different ideas into my life. In 2007 I experienced my first non-binging day. I had no idea what got me to that point. I kept journals (I have about 40 notebooks filled with writings), but still could not put my finger on the process I had used. Now in 2011, I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I found Kuhns's book and am delighted to say that I think the man is a genius. This book is all inclusive. I bought his book as an e-book and thought to myself yeh, this is some kook with a lot of filler to get my money. I had combed the internet and bought about 3 or 4 junk e-books. I was pleasantly surprised and thought Kuhns had read my mind. I have basically used all of his ideas in my quest, except the 26 pointers. I feel like the more I get in touch with my body, then body wisdom will steer me to the right foods for my body. I have found this to be true so far. I basically healed myself without reference to food at all. When I became the person I wanted to be it all fell into place.

I am glad to have found a book that is inclusive, because other authors, weight loss plans, and programs are not telling the whole story. Of course not, they need to sell books number two, three, seminars, supplements, and whatever else. They start off with eat all the foods you love and on a subsequent page, they are telling you to restrict certain foods. No one who has been eating a pound of m & m's every night can all of a sudden just give them up cold turkey. I don't know if I will get rid of the amount of weight that I want to shed, but I am on 4 blood pressure meds and would like to get them out of my life. I have shed 13 lbs in three months, effortlessly with no deprivation.(eating what I love) I wish I had found this book when I first started my journey, but it will be helpful putting names to the things that I have used and it will be a great reference book for my continuing journey. I assure you that all other emotional eating books will be leaving my book shelves.

This program will work for you. You have to be consistent, persistent, and don't expect overnight success. You have to give yourself the time everyday to work on you. I like the way the book is written. It gives great examples to start you off. The cartoons are funny and Kuhns seems to be authentic and concerned about the readers well being. This is the book for you if you can relate to my story. I have time on my hands now. I can use it to start patching up that groove I have made in the floor leading from the couch to the fridge."

Uncertainty and Emotional Eating

It's been three weeks since we've returned from vacation in Hawaii and the memories are becoming more distant--what a pity. Can't wait to go back to refresh them. Another vacation video of Chinese New Year in Oahu below.

The good news for me is that I've dropped the four or five pounds I collected on my body during vacation in spite of dealing with a lot of stress since I've returned--business pressures and my son was in an accident and totaled his car (fortunately no one was hurt and it wasn't his fault). Nevertheless, we're using my car for the both of us until he's provided a rental or a replacement car.

Emotions: We generally don't think of emotions--we think of the stress but not necessarily the emotions we feel. For instance, we don't think of the uncertainty that is there when we're dealing with a stress and don't know the outcome. Uncertainty is a low level emotion that is there 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week until the stress is resolved. Add to that, the emotions from everyday happenings.

For many of us, there's financial stress which contributes to uncertainty. We're hoping that our ship will come in just in time to save us from a perilous end. Feeling and experiencing uncertainty is a challenge because the stress continues on and on. How do you handle uncertainty? Have you noticed a tendency to eat more during periods of high uncertainty?

Make a log of the things which uncertainty plays a role in your life. Record how often during a day that you feel uncertain. At this point we're not expecting to do anything about uncertainty other than simply notice if it plays a role in your life.

I wrote a book, The Scale Conspiracy, which is about how to handle habitual, emotional eating, and self defeating eating. I guarantee it to be the most valuable book on the subject of how to lose weight that you have ever read or you money back. It's available as an e-book or in soft cover. E-book is only $14.95. Soft cover is $19.95 plus $3.00 handling and shipping and includes a free

The Aftermath of Vacation

Yes, I'm down all four pounds that I had gained during vacation, but Macadamias are going to keep me from dropping more today. Yes, this afternoon I took a few macadamias from a small container and I ended up having a few more than I wanted.

As I wrote in my last post, I can have less than desirable eating habits. And rather than preach, "Do as I say, not as I do." I'd rather have everyone know that it's better to do one thing at a time rather than make many major changes at the same time. So rather than have you expect that you need to drop calories and significantly improve the quality of those calories, let's start by simply reducing calories and if the quality of those calories improve, that's great. If not, that's OK too as in time, just as it happens with me, you'll get tired of the non desirable eating behaviors and be amazed to find that you'll eat what you really want and be amazed to find that what you really want to eat will be more nutritious than your imagined possible.

For as you start shedding weight you will be feeling better about you and in time notice a shift toward healthier eating habits. For me, I'm still in vacation mode and it will probably disappear within a few days. See more video below!

All of these insights are available in my book, The Scale Conspiracy, which I guarantee to be the most valuable book on the subject of how to lose weight that you have ever read or you money back. It's available as an e-book or in soft cover. Click here for more information

Back From Vacation--Admission

I'm down three of the four pounds I gained from gluttony over the vacation and probably by the time I weigh myself in the morning I'll be down all four pounds. Most of the people you hear talking about losing weight talk about eating nutritiously. Yet, each of us have that sweet tooth--me too.
Let me go a little into my approach on weight management. First, it's call weight management instead of losing weight for two reasons:
1. The idea of losing causes anxiety. After all, how many things have you been taught to lose. What happens when you can't find your keys or your cell phone? You get anxious, right? So the idea of LOSING is a problem and better to avoid.
2. Weight management provides flexibility. In other words, it you gain a couple pounds, it's OK. So rather than get into a mind set where you have to drop weight consistently, you can drop two or three and go up one or two and then down three or four and up one or two. Knowing this takes away all the anxiety of having to always be perfect in dropping weight.

Now I must admit just as I do in my book that I sometimes have less than excellent eating habits. This goes along with the idea of management. My eating habits can be rotten and they can be great. Most weight loss programs have you focus on healthy eating habits.

So great, you start off being very careful and eating healthy. Now you can only do this so long. I mean you're human and eventually you're going to blow it and when that happens, it can sometimes be the end of the weight loss program--disastrous. With my approach, you have a preference to eat nutritiously and with that in mind, you can also eat non nutritiously.

For instance, I gained four pounds and it wasn't from always eating nutritiously. I experienced my share of gluttony in Hawaii. Now I just dropped three of the four pounds, was free of gluttony but far from being free of nutritious eating.

For instance, yesterday I had two doughnuts and a cup of coffee for breakfast. I had no desire to eat lunch and for dinner I had a salad with no dressing and a bagel with almond butter and guava jelly (from Hawaii). That's far from being nutritious. Today I had a doughnut for breakfast. I had a great desire to have something to eat around 3:00 and on my way home stopped in Costco and had a sausage sandwich and a cup of yogurt swirl. A few minutes ago I had a cup of coffee with a few marshmallows and one dark candy chocolate.

The point is that after a couple days of this kind of eating I will have had my fill of it and gravitate towards a healthier diet tomorrow. It's a back and forth kind of thing.

In the middle of all of this is also the stress of life and the experience of emotion. It's handling the emotion that keeps either my nutritious or non nutritious eating from becoming compulsive or a binge.

How does this approach sound to you? Would you rather be perfect and anxious about every calorie you consume or would you rather manage your life?

The book cover at the top is my new book, How to Build Self Esteem in Your Child--

Fifteen Tips on How to Build Self Esteem in Your Child. It's a must read for every parent for parents ultimately have more to say in the building of their child's self esteem than anyone else. Parents are the role model from which children build self esteem. And remember this. Every child is born with a high level of self esteem. Unfortunately it's unconscious messages from parents that often destroy self esteem in their children. This book explores fifteen typical mistakes many parents make with their children at an early age and then goes on to creating a model from which your child can build self esteem.

Just can't let go of vacation so I added a mountain video below.

Gaining and Losing Weight On Vacation

We left Maui around midnight and got into San Francisco around 6:00 am and had a hearty breakfast. We caught a 9:00 am flight to Newark--both our flights were full and silly me didn't make prior arrangements for seat assignments so we didn't get to sit together on either flight.
When we got home my son had a couple pieces of left over pizza and that was our dinner just in time to see the Giants squeak out their win over the Patriots--Yeah! If you saw it, you know it was a nail bitter.

The big question: How much weight did Nancy and I gain? My gluttony added four pounds for the two weeks. I was thinking also added a few pounds and was surprised to hear that she dropped four pounds.
Back to my normal routine, the four pounds for me will be gone within a week as I prefer to forget about food. That's a great suggestion to use throughout the day. Compound its power by using self hypnosis.
Complete instruction on how to use self hypnosis are in my book--The Scale Conspiracy, Get it in E-book form for only $14.95. Soft cover is $19.95 plus $3.00 handling and shipping and includes a free copy of the e-book--scroll down for the buy button. You'll never be able to cheat again with food.

Last Vacation Post

Saying Good Bye to Maui

The last three days have been action packed. Wednesday we did a dinner cruise with the Alex Cruise Line company. I've been on dinner cruises before and usually the only thing great about the cruises is the scenery. But this time the food was incredible. Nancy didn't think she'd like the mahi mahi so she ordered steak. I ordered the mahi mahi. Both were incredibly delicious so we shared. We ended up sitting with a pilot for American Air Lines who gave us a lot of tips. He made a point of pointing out how he thinks the TSA is way out in orbit with some of their practices and ends up adding a lot of money to the cost of air fair. On the way back to port we saw several whales blowing and breaching. The scenery was incredible. When we returned to Lahania port we had a scoup of ice cream to top off the evening and then drove back to Kihei.

We started Thursday with a small breakfast and spent a quite day at the resort. At 4:30 pm we went to our first lauau of the trip. The food and entrainment was mediocre so we were free of gluttony.

Friday started off with an air of excitement. We took a helicopter ride over the North Eastern mountains and took a lot of great photos and video--go to end of this post. We returned to the resort and had a moderate breakfast. Then we took a ride near Haleakala to the Botanical Gardens--video below. Being at the foot of Haleakala, I decided to drive to the top--see more video below. At around 7,000 feet elevation we rode through the clouds and continued to the top at just a few feet over 10,000 feet.

Needless to say it was a day of incredible sights to photograph and video. We got down the mountain just in time to see the sun set over the mountains behind Lahania. We came back to our resort and Nancy made us soup and a left over hamburger for dinner.

It's been two weeks since I've stepped on a scale and I'm wondering how I'll fair when I get home. I would imagine that I've gained about four or five pounds. I can say that overall I'm appalled with the number of overweight men and women in my age group over 50. I want to hand each one of them a copy of the Scale Conspiracy and wish them well, but I exercise restraint.

Today I published my first book with Amazon on their Kindle offerings. It's title is How to Build Self Esteem In Your Children--Fifteen Tips on How to Build Self Esteem In Your Child—A Must Read Book For All Parents for just $2.99. If I did it right, it should be available in three or four days.

Tomorrow morning before we check out I'm going to shoot some video for the website promoting the book with a tropical background and then we'll have a small breakfast, take a walk along the beach and then check out. Our plane departs at 11:30 pm so we'll have a lot more time to travel around the island. Maybe we'll grab some dinner in Paia near the airport before we leave.

Now a plea! Help me pay for this vacation and pick up your copy of The Scale Conspiracy in E-book form for only $14.95. (just kidding, the vacation has already been paid for and besides you'll love the book). Soft cover is $19.95 plus $3.00 handling and shipping and includes a free copy of the e-book--scroll down for the buy button. You'll never be able to cheat again with food.

If every overweight patient learned all of the lessons in this magnum opus, the success rate in treating their obesity would be dramatically improved.”

Another Great Day in Maui

Aloha Again,
We started the day with Nancy taking a quick dip in the pool as I checked my email. Then we had a small breakfast of an egg with tomato, a slice of toast, and coffee for we knew that the resort would be providing lunch.

We then joined a group outside our room making leis. As Nancy and the other wives made leis the guys talked about the politics of energy. We all agreed that the best alternative to gas and oil is hydrogen but thought politics would delay it's development.

A few hours later in the early afternoon our resort provided us a lunch. We both ate enough to last most of the day. I had planned on going to the top of Haleakala but when the concierge informed us it would be over a two hour ride each way, Nancy voted against it. I didn't object and later in the afternoon we drove down S Keihi Rd and I found the first resort when I stayed here twenty three years ago. We hung out there and enjoyed a cloud laden afternoon watching whales in the distance jump and blow. There were about a half dozen of them frolicking in the ocean. It brought back some of the best memories of my early life when I first visited Maui. Go to the bottom of this post for a great Maui sunset.

Later we each had one scoop of ice cream just before we watched the sunset. Our video and photos of our trip will be 50% sunsets. A bit later we stopped in a health food store and Nancy wanted to buy a bunch of vegetables for soup. I reminded her we already had the next several days planned out and the last thing we needed is more food.

After we got back to the resort we had a cup of soup and ate a small piece of banana nut bread with coffee for desert.

I'm happy that I recognized contentment yesterday. Even though I'm very much attuned to emotions, I was at a loss for a while with that emotion during our vacation. What emotions are your recognizing that are connected with your excess eating or with temptations to eat?

If you related with this, then pick up your copy of The Scale Conspiracy in E-book form for only $14.95. Soft cover is $19.95 plus $3.00 handling and shipping and includes a free copy of the e-book--scroll down for the buy button. You'll never be able to cheat again with food.

Aloha From Maui

We left Oahu on Sunday afternoon and arrived on Maui a half hour later. We goofed and sat on the wrong side of the plane so we didn't get any great shots of the islands from the air.

We had a few left overs from our kitchen for breakfast and only ate two roles of shushi for dinner. Nancy ordered some Korean noodle dish and I simply had no desire to eat any of it after the first bite--not a taste I like. Later we shared a muffin with coffee for desert.

Today we went to Lahinia--the only large shopping area on the island. Somehow I missed the signs and the turn and we ended up in the scenic mountainous region of the island. We took our time sight seeing and got some great shots of the mountains and ocean. Go the the bottom of this post for some great video. Unfortunately the surf was calm and there was no action at the blow hole.

On the way back we stopped in Lahinia, parked and meandered a few blocks. Nancy's back was hurting so we didn't walk too far. As far as food goes for the day we basically ate very little as we're planning on a lauau later in the week. We figured that since we haven't been to Maui before we'd do our tourist stuff here. So we're going to take a sunset cruise, go whale watching and take a helicopter ride around the North West end of the island. And somewhere we want to fit in a trip to the top of Haleakala volcano for a sunrise.

During the late part of the evening I was tempted to have some banana nut bread with a coffee. I was wondering what emotion I was dealing with. It wasn't happiness. It wasn't malaise. It wasn't frustration. I just couldn't figure out what I'd be diluting. Later in bed I realized what I was feeling--contentment. Pure delicious contentment.

The challenge with emotions is that we are so programmed to ignore them or pretend that they don't exist, that they can be a challenge to identify. How about you. Is is always easy for you to identify what emotion you're feeling?

If you related with this, then pick up your copy of The Scale Conspiracy in E-book form for only $14.95. Soft cover is $19.95 plus $3.00 handling and shipping and includes a free copy of the e-book--scroll down for the buy button. You'll never be able to cheat again with food.

Gluttony and Vacation

Aloha,

I awakened at 7:00 am with incredible pain in my knee. I slowly limped to the elevator and went to the 26th floor owner's lounge to video tape an introduction for the scale conspiracy web page. I was sure that I'd have another miserable day with my bum knee. Unfortunately I was too late and the lighting was wrong for make the video so I limped back to the room and had a very light breakfast with Nancy.

We took a nap and hung around the room until about 11:30 am. I wanted to walk along the beach and get some video of Royal Hawaiian Hotel (the pink one) before we left. Nancy didn't want to walk on the beach because of the sun--she hates exposing her skin to the sun. But eventually I chided her into a walk on the beach. Much to my surprise as I left our resort my knee got better and better. It was like an instant improvement--pain gone. Just a few hours before with every step I had radiating pain in my knee muscles. I'm not ready for jogging yet, but boosting glutathione has saved my vacation.

But Nancy still didn't want to walk very long on the beach. I got my video of the Royal Hawaiian--which is practically next door to our resort--from the beach and then we walked through the Royal Hawaiian to the street and continued on to the public Waikiki beach where I took more video.

Afterwards I wanted to go a block further inland and check out the stores for a wind breaker, but Nancy didn't want to. She wanted to go to a Chinese restaurant at noon for lunch. It was our first disagreement for the week. She walked into a store while I commandeered a seat along the street to wait for her.

When she finally came out of the store--she seems to get mesmerized in stores and rarely buys anything after spending eons of time trying on clothing--I said, "We have an issue. You don't want to go with me and I don't want to go to a Chinese restaurant. I'd like to walk from Kakalaua Ave over to Kuhio Ave and go back to the beach and later hang out under the tree at the beach"--(there's this fantastic low hanging tree that makes great shade right on the beach.) Go to the end of this post for video from under this tree. "So why don't you do what you want to do and I'll do what I want to do and we'll meet at the resort in two hours."

She decided to go with me and we found some neat stores--she almost bought a stupid Betty Boops clock but at the last moment decided not to. An hour later we happened upon a lunch buffet and decided that we'd go for gluttony. The buffet featured shushi which we enjoyed very much. And with all the food I was amazed that we ate moderately compared to how we could have gorged ourselves. We had basically planned on a lauau which never happened. It was the last food for the day and our only buffet for the week. Later we enjoyed the best sunset of the week and then walked through the streets that were blocked off for the Pro Bowl celebration.

Tomorrow morning we'll be leaving for a week on Maui so this may be my last post for a week as I'm not sure if I'll have access to the internet there. The good news is that so far we are on target with our food intake and enjoying the best of food that we can find.

The good news is that we did not feel that we were our own worst enemy when it came to food but instead loved with it and enjoyed it. Yet I know many of you may feel that when it comes to food that you start the day out with great intentions and perhaps eat little if any breakfast. Likewise at lunch you may eat very little, come home and plan on having just a little of something for dinner. That "little something" turns into a little something more, and then you have a little of something else and by bed time you might have polished off a bag of chips and feel gorged wondering, "What's wrong with me? I'm my own worst enemy."

If your experiences with food are often like that, then pick up your copy of The Scale Conspiracy in E-book form for only $14.95. Soft cover is $19.95 plus $3.00 handling and shipping and includes a free copy of the e-book--scroll down for the buy button. You'll never be able to cheat again with food.

More vacation and food

Aloha,
Aloha means affection, peace, compassion and mercy. I was hoping to share a few photos of Waikiki with you but unfortunately, my wife's new I phone is in Chinese as she is Chinese and she doesn't yet know how to send emails from her new I phone. I have been downloading some video to my computer and if I'm lucky you'll be able to see sunset at Waikiki beach. My apologies, I'm uploading the video but the link isn't happening--you're supposed to be able to click on Waikiki beach in the previous sentence to see the video.

Today I awakened with incredible pain in my knee as I tried to walk. We stayed in and had a small breakfast with coffee, banana nut muffin, danish and toast--a high carb breakfast. Then we took my knee to the hot tub and that did little good for it. Then we took my knee to pool side on the 27th floor and I wrapped it in ice and that did little good. I've been tripling my MaxOne Glutathione accelerator hoping that it will shorten the duration of the agony. Only time will tell.

For dinner I limped along with my wife a short block away to PF Changs. We've noticed that restaurant absolutely full of patrons every night and decided we'd have to try it out. I ordered Nancy a strawberry daiquiri but she's not big on alcohol so I ended up drinking most of it. We skipped appetizers and went straight for the entrees. Nancy had an eggplant dish in soy and I had a steak dish with water chestnuts and snow peas. The portions were just right.

The waitress brought us a chocolate cake for desert--it was eight layers--over a foot long with ice cream. Don't worry, we passed it up and settled for one small--actually it was kind of tiny--container of chocolate mousse.

Afterwards, we went to a nearby shopping area where I hung out sitting on a carved out huge block of wood. Nancy put in her order for a Louis Vuitton Bag for Christmas. I limped back to our resort where we went to the owner's lounge and enjoyed a couple shows on the wide screen tv.

I was amazed that I was free of temptation to eat in response to my agony all day long. I generally am tempted to eat more in response to being happy. But that 's not always true, I remember just last week going through some unplanned eating because of a major disappointment--emotionally I was very frustrated. What emotions do you find the biggest challenge? Let me know. The secrets to dealing with these emotions are in my book--The Scale Conspiracy in E-book form for only $14.95. Eating on Vacation

We met our new friend for breakfast at Moose McGuillyCutties. It was a large delicious breakfast and I saved my banana nut muffin for breakfast tomorrow.

A couple days ago I pulled a muscle in my right knee while getting up from my beach towel. I'd been nursing it along since then, but as we were having breakfast it somehow became aggravated and when I got up to leave my knee was in agony. It reminds me of the intense pain I had in my other knee for over a year before I began using the glutathione accelerator that finally gave me relief.

We didn't take any long walks for the remainder of the day. I treated my knee to the hot tub for a while and babied it the rest of the day around our resort. We combined lunch and dinner and shared a Caesar salad with chicken and an order of pulled pork, Hawaiian style.

I was hoping for another gorgeous sunset, but it was not to happen. In fact the weather report is calling for stormy weather tomorrow.

I was tempted to have some dried pineapple chips after dinner and decided to take my disappointment with my knee straight rather than dilute it with calories. Disappointment is not a feeling that I like and it's real tempting to dilute it with food. Yet, it is my choice. How do you deal with disappointment?

Tomorrow's plan is to have a very light breakfast with banana nut muffin. Depending on how my knee is tomorrow and the weather will determine what ventures we undertake.

Vacation Plans Change

Today we were going to have a small breakfast and be gluttonous for dinner at a lauau. We got up early, spent some time in the hot tub, and then hung out for a half hour at the pool on the roof. Then we had our tiny breakfast as planned so we could be gluttonous later in the day. But, our plans changed. We ended up going to Helio Hattie where we sampled some tasty macadamia nuts in chocolate and then had vanilla pineapple soft serve. We immediately decided to delay the lauau to another day. We missed our trolly by just a minute. While we waited a half hour for the next trolley we met a lady from Tennessee who lives on a farm and has six horses which my wife would love to ride. We might have breakfast with her tomorrow.

Our next stop was at Moose McGillyCuddy's for a Mai Tai--one was sufficient and then we shared one entree of Korean beef/chicken with lots of vegetables at a near by food court. We then returned to our resort and watched an incredibly beautiful sunset from the top floor of our building. My wife bet me $5000 that the sun would disappear behind the clouds and the sunset would be a dud. She will never pay up.

We capped our evening off by sharing a cup of lava flow (chocolate and coffee with a little whipped cream on top) as we watched a local street show of hula dancers. Just scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the pretty hula dancers. The good news is that we're handling the welcome emotions that go along with being in Hawaii and are managing and enjoying our food intake.
